New Delhi, 3 July 2024 – Planetcast Media Services is proud to announce its flawless delivery of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, achieving zero downtime across 74 matches in 13 stadiums. This continues Planetcast’s legacy of powering top-tier live sports broadcasting, including the recent T20 World Cup (2–29 June), which ended with India’s victory over South Africa.

Planetcast has been a trusted IPL technology partner for 17 years, enabling seamless broadcast and streaming solutions. In 2024, Planetcast also supported Star Sports, Hotstar, and Times Internet Group’s Cricbuzz for T20 World Cup coverage, ensuring unmatched reach and fan engagement. The company’s advanced services facilitated approximately $450 million in advertising delivery for IPL rightsholders, nearly matching 2023’s $465 million figure, with spend evenly split between broadcast and digital platforms.

IPL 2024: Services Delivered

  • Star Sports: Domestic TV broadcast across 17 channels in 11 languages, including encoding, live transmission, playout, packaging, and delivery.
  • Viacom18: OTT streaming support for JioCinema.
  • Times Internet (Cricbuzz): International OTT streaming and playout services.

  • JioCinema: Streaming viewership increased 38% YoY, with 620 million viewers in 2024.
  • Opening Match: Drew 111 million fans on JioCinema – a 51% surge compared to 2023.

T20 World Cup 2024: Services Delivered

  • Star Sports: Managed the world feed via satellite, delivering 17 channels in three languages; encoding, playout, packaging, and delivery included.
  • Hotstar: Provided disaster recovery services, channel content replacement, and vertical feed delivery.
  • Times Internet (Cricbuzz): AI-based instant highlight creation, near-real-time ad insertion, and graphics playout for the US market.
