Live sports broadcasting leaves zero room for error. When millions of fans across the Asia-Pacific region are tuned into high-stakes events like Formula 1, the UEFA Champions League, or the Australian Open, every second of latency and every manual workflow step represents a massive operational risk.
At Planetcast, we pride ourselves on building the intelligent, automated infrastructure needed to handle that immense pressure. That is why we are incredibly thrilled to announce that Planetcast has officially won the Sports Broadcasting - Singapore category at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2026.
The award recognizes our game-changing deployment of Cloud.X Turbo for beIN Asia Pacific, a project that completely restructured live sports broadcast operations across 12 regional markets.
Prior to this deployment, managing a massive, multi-market sports network required navigating fragmented, manual workflows. Relying heavily on rigid legacy SDI-based hardware and third-party dependencies meant that scaling up to meet peak sports seasons required immense manpower, heavy satellite costs, and significant fiber infrastructure overhead.
beIN Asia Pacific needed a solution that could consolidate control, scale dynamically, and inject next-generation automation directly into the live broadcast chain.
We stepped in to completely replace legacy SDI-based systems with a highly agile, hybrid SDI + IP architecture managed from a centralized hub in Singapore.
By migrating the operations to an IP-based network utilizing the Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) protocol, we unlocked the ability to simultaneously manage an unprecedented volume of concurrent content:
To optimize resource allocation, we introduced a hybrid-remote operating model. While live broadcast activities remained consolidated in our Singapore hub, all non-live processes - such as strict Quality Control (QC), recording, and media asset management - were seamlessly moved to our remote hubs in India. A unified control layer tied these teams together, allowing operators to handle ingest, segmentation, and playout preparation in real time.
The true hero of this deployment was the introduction of our Feed Management and Distribution System. Historically, configuring a single live feed required manual intervention across more than 40 distinct steps.
Our automation layer collapsed those 40+ configuration steps into a single, automated workflow. Input configurations now automatically extend across satellite receivers, SRT receivers, decoders, and OTT outputs simultaneously. Furthermore, this gave operators the power to make dynamic, real-time playout adjustments - such as live schedule, promotion, and advertising changes - right in the middle of live matches.
The initial deployment phase delivered massive, measurable business value to beIN Asia Pacific:
While we are incredibly proud to bring this trophy home, this win is just a baseline for where we are taking media distribution. The transition from physical hardware to intelligent, automated workflows is accelerating, and Planetcast is leading the charge.
A massive thank you to our incredible partners at beIN Asia Pacific for trusting our vision, and to our engineering and operations teams whose relentless innovation made this milestone possible.
